In Memory of Dr. Elaine Fischer Marshack

The faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College mourn the loss of our esteemed colleague, Dr. Elaine Fischer Marshack, who passed away peacefully in New York City on May 27, 2026.


Elaine was a beloved sister, wife, aunt, partner, mentor, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and wisdom touched countless lives. Throughout her life and career, she remained deeply committed to the values of social justice, human dignity, and equity, dedicating herself to the service of others and to the advancement of the social work profession.

Silberman Celebrates Social Work Month With Song, Dance, Exhibits

The Silberman School of School Work got its groove on March 25 with a student-run event, “Wellness & Witness Wednesday: A Creative Social Work Showcase.”

The event, which celebrated Social Work Month, highlighted the creativity, diversity, and lived experience of students with live music, spoken words, poetry, dance performances, visual art, and an open-mic segment for personal reflections.
